WELCOME TO BLUR ATELIER

An intimate and private tattoo studio located in the heart of Hamburg, right by the Alster.
Our 100 sqm historical apartment, with its beautiful, carefully designed interior, has been transformed into an inspiring and intimate tattoo studio that operates on three core principles:

EXCELLENT HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL TATTOO ARTISTS

BEAUTIFUL CAREFULLY DESIGNED ATMOSPHERE

RELAXED
AND INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE

Created by interdisciplinary creative-professionals, Blur Atelier was from the very beginning supposed to be a safe space for both clients and tattoo artists, where they can together realize beautiful projects and ideas in the intimate and secure environment.

The vision of Blur is to make sure, that your tattoo will be an act of self-care, the moment of joy, inspiration and relax. In order to achieve that, we are basing on the following principles:

EXCELLENT,
HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL
TATTOO ARTISTS

Each of our artists is a master in their style and technique, renowned professionals across Germany. With years of experience and additional training, our tattoo artists are experts in design, illustration, and hygiene. Our artists tattoo in their own unique styles, creating only original designs based on your ideas or theirs. We do not copy the work of other artists or designs from the internet. If you're inspired by something, we'll be happy to interpret it in our own way.

Our priority is to make you feel safe and heard during your appointment. Feel free to ask any questions about the design, placement, or tattooing process. This is your moment of self-care, and we are here to ensure it's perfect.

BEAUTIFUL, CAREFULLY DESIGNED ATMOSPHERE

Our studio is filled with natural light and candle sparkles, equipped with the highest standard of tattooing and sanitary equipment, and adorned with inspiring designer objects that interact with the classic historical architecture. The design process, a collaboration between an experienced architect and the studio owner, is ongoing as we continually curate new elements and designer pieces for our studio.

Blur's interior is inspired by Hamburg itself. The city's elegant Altbau buildings, cozy cafes, vibrant Wochenmarkts, and strolls by the Alster all contribute to our studio's ambiance. We use natural colors and materials to highlight the raw beauty of the old building, with accents of dark wood and stainless steel creating a dialogue with soft painted canvases and greenery. Each room is filled with small accents to surprise you and showcase our love for design.

RELAXED
AND INTIMATE ATMOSPHERE

At Blur Atelier, we aim to provide the highest hygiene standards, talented and experienced tattoo artists, and a beautiful interior to help you fully relax and enjoy your session. Cherish this self-care moment in our cozy atmosphere. Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, listen to our calming playlist, join our internal chit-chats, or simply let your thoughts drift away.

Blur Atelier was created to be a safe space for everyone, free from hectic appointments, rushed consultations, and cold treatment. Instead, we offer a calm space where creative ideas can thrive, and both tattoo artists and clients are excited to return.

Want to check out the studio? Come by for a consultation or join us during our social events!

We put a lot of effort into building a community around our studio, and it brings us incredible joy to see our space filled with people during our cozy events. It’s also a great way to get to know the studio and the artists before deciding for you tattoo in case of doubts.

MEET THE TEAM

Our team of creative professionals is the core of Blur's Identity. Together we inspire each other, and co-create our beautiful studio. Except from our tattoo-artists, Blur is co-created by three other beautiful people.

ELI

Our kind-hearted and professional studio manager. Eli handles the booking process and keeps the studio running smoothly. She has a background in film, making our reels look fantastic, and is always accompanied by our tattoo-support dog, Romeo.

DOMA

Tattoo artist, the very creative soul of Blur and brand’s co-owner. A former would-be physiotherapist. There is no job, that she will not take, nor no craft where she is not proficient at. Usually you can find her tattooing, fixing some furniture, preparing the content for our Insta, painting some new work canvas to hang in Blur, or cooking for the whole team. Not on Thursdays though - on Thursdays she is doing ceramics and taking care of her bit too energetic dog - Wini.

KASJAN

Executive director of Blur and practicing architect. Born and raised in family-run gastronomy, he combines experience from the hospitality industry with design and architectural education to create a space that’s timeless, eye-catching, and welcoming. Keeps bringing another vintage piece from flohmarkt every two weeks.

BLUR’S ARTISTS

The artists at Blur are a skilled and diverse team, each with their own tattooing style. • We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years. We do not make exceptions to this rule, even with parental consent.

  • To ensure our artists and our clients safety, we have the highest hygiene standards in our studio.

We only use sterilised disposable materials and colors approved by the REACH regulation. Please also note that for safety and hygiene reasons, no companions are allowed in the tattooing room.

All our inks are vegan and being documented for each client.

A detailed hygiene plan is available and can be requested at any time and is also laid out in the studio.

  • Our tattoos start at €150. The price depends on your desired style, design, size, and placement.

If you want more information about the price of your tattoo, feel free to make an inquiry through our booking form. You will then receive a non binding offer with all the details!

  • To secure your appointment, you must pay a deposit in advance. You can transfer this to your respective artist. Bank info will be sent to you in your appointment confirmation email! In the studio, we only accept cash payments.

  • All our artists offer different styles. On our website, under the “Artists” tab, you can find a small selection of tattoos by our artists, which may help you decide on a style.

If you’re unsure, simply choose the artist who appeals to you the most at first glance and mention in your request that you are open to suggestions.

  • Fill out our booking form on our website with accurate and detailed information. Include your design idea, size, placement, and any reference pictures or drawings. Note that we tattoo every design only once, with exceptions for friendship/family tattoos.

If you're unsure about some details, fill in what you can, and we'll work together to finalize the rest.

We'll review your request and ask additional questions if needed to personalize your design.

Once we have all the necessary details, we'll send you a non-binding proposal.

If you accept the proposal, we'll find a suitable appointment that fits your schedule. You'll receive an official confirmation email with all the necessary information.

Feel free to ask any questions before making a decision.

You can relax and wait for your tattoo appointment.

  • Your artist will prepare a design for your tattoo session. We don’t send designs beforehand, but of course, you will have the possibility to discuss the design and make adjustments if necessary.

If you change the motif, size, or placement before or during the appointment, your offer becomes invalid.

If you want to change any of these aspects, please inform us as soon as possible via email. We will most likely have to reschedule the appointment in those cases to ensure enough time for your session!

  • If you are unsure about the exact size and placement, you always have the option to try different variations, as long as they are roughly within the same scope as in your request.

Keep in mind that you cannot switch from arms or legs to ribs. Ribs are a very demanding area and therefore require more time.

  • If you're uncertain about your design or have general questions, you can always come in for a consultation beforehand. You can just fill out the form for this. Normal consultation appointments are generally free of charge, but an appointment must still be arranged as usual.

  • If your tattoo has lost too much color during the healing process, we can do a touch-up. We offer a touch-up for €30 in material costs within 4 months after the original tattoo appointment.

  • We generally recommend coming to your tattoo appointment alone. Tattoos are always a personal decision and should be made free of other opinions.

However, if you would like emotional support during your session, you can bring one additional person.

Note that your companion cannot enter the tattoo room for health and safety reasons.

  • Our studio is located on the first floor, and our building does not have an elevator. To still offer accessible appointments, we have a partnership with a friendly studio located on the ground floor.

Please ask in your request if this is necessary for you!

  • We use Second Skin bandages in our studio, which are waterproof and breathable. This will protect your new tattoo from external influences and bacteria. We recommend wearing the bandage for three days if possible. If it comes off earlier, that's not a problem, just start with the next steps of care. The bandage is best removed under warm water in the shower. Let it soak for a moment before gently and slowly peeling off the bandage. If you have pH-neutral soap, you can use it to clean your tattoo. If not, water alone is sufficient. Let your tattoo air dry or lightly pat it dry with a piece of kitchen towel.

Then you can start with the care routine. Tattoos usually take about 6 weeks to fully heal.

During the first two weeks after getting the tattoo, you need to take extra good care of it. Use a tattoo cream or a panthenol-containing ointment. Apply a thin layer of cream to your tattoo 3-6 times a day, always making sure your hands are clean.

Also avoid sweating heavily for two weeks, so no sports or strenuous physical activities.

After two weeks, you can reduce the application of cream to 1-2 times a day. While your tattoo is healing, a crust will likely form on the tattoo and then peel off after some time. Don't worry, this is completely normal! Do not pick or pull the crust. Otherwise, you may damage the underlying skin and remove the color pigments from the skin. This could result in an unevenly healed tattoo. Let your skin do the hard work and support it with wound healing creams.

Throughout the entire healing process, you need to take good care of your skin. Avoid swimming, bathing, or going to the sauna. Minimize exposure to UV radiation, so no sunbathing or tanning beds.

After your tattoo is fully healed, you still need to look out for your skin. To keep your tattoo looking beautiful for many years, always apply sunscreen and moisturizer. Whatever is good for your skin is also good for your tattoo!

Lastly, always remember that all tattoos heal differently, so always consult with your artist about the correct care routine!

  • Start moisturizing the area to be tattooed with lotion about a week before your appointment.

The better your skin is cared for, the easier it is to tattoo. Come well-nourished and rested to your appointment; for longer sessions, it's a good idea to bring some snacks. We will, of course, provide you with drinks in the studio!

Avoid consuming blood-thinning substances like ibuprofen or alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

You cannot be tattooed while taking antibiotics. There should be approximately two weeks between your last dose and your tattoo appointment to allow your immune system to recover.

  • Please note the conditions for rescheduling and cancellations:

    • Up to two weeks prior: complete cancellation

    • Up to one week prior: one-time rescheduling without a reason

    • Up to two days prior: one-time rescheduling with a medical certificate

If these deadlines are not met, the deposit will be retained. By transferring the deposit, you agree to these terms. Changes are only possible by email.

  • Remember that tattoos are done on living skin. A bit of unevenness in the healed tattoo is unavoidable. How your tattoo heals depends on a lot of factors which are mostly out of our hands.

There is always the possibility of a blowout, allergic reactions, and fading. Risks of blowouts and fading rise with certain skin textures (scars, stretch marks, dermatitis) but can generally happen to anyone. We will provide you with our knowledge and advise you to help prevent this.
